Meme time! Maybe it'll help with process or something. Just remember to put which incarnation. Although depending on what game, it might blend all together anyways. _-_

Name me one of my characters, and I'll tell you the inspiration(s) behind their initial conception, whether they be real-life people or fictional characters.

And I must reciprocate and ask for Luag, of course... :)

And while I'm at it, feel free to ramble about Johnny or David... because I am the naturally curious sort. :)

It took me a moment to figure out which journal you responded to. *headdesks* Yes, it's that sort of 'morning'.

Luag is easy, but then he's relatively recent. I was already in Mulligan and wanted another student character as I think I had Gus and Justin at the time. Someone with angst I could handle and could actually interact easily with other students and that damn MacFusty name on the character list kept tempting me because 'omg dragons!'. Dragons are cool, etc, etc. I couldn't see someone from that family as a Ravenclaw though. Which immediately brought to mind my cousin's character Alexander McDouglas (omg, such old artwork). Scottish island boy (I think he's from the Orkneys?) from a pureblood family of Gryffindor Aurors who is the brainy Ravenclaw but no one knows it because he makes a point of solving things with his fists instead of his brains. So, I took that template and ran with it, changing the local, having it be a family of Gryffindor dragon keepers and quiddy players, adding more sisters and fleshing it out a ( ... )

Number two! We'll do David because he's so much easier.

I think I was having problems figuring out a character for the game. There was the idea of a Sven insert (aka Johnny) brewing in my head, but I couldn't decide on a power. And I think I liked the ice power and it was open, but I wasn't sure how to work it. So, I trolled through the Heroes wiki to see if there were any interesting canon people to riff off of and I come to the page for 'David'. Guy from Chicago and I know somewhere there was talk that there was a fire hydrant frozen nearby. So, went with the Chicago Polish angle and named him after a 'Polish' friend from high school, all assuming that he was going to be killed by Sylar within a few months of game play time. Kori helped me flesh out his background because of her first hand know-how and his family is based loosely on her extended family. I went with the Chicago Cubbies love and made him a baseball scout because that meant he would move around a lot (or well, in my fictional idea of baseball scouts it meant ( ... )

I am so glad (and so is Trish!) that David wasn't allowed to die. :)

I will admit to being curious about the inspirations behind Gus other than the obvious.
