Meme time! Maybe it'll help with process or something. Just remember to put which incarnation. Although depending on what game, it might blend all together anyways. _-_

Name me one of my characters, and I'll tell you the inspiration(s) behind their initial conception, whether they be real-life people or fictional characters.

It took me a moment to figure out which journal you responded to. *headdesks* Yes, it's that sort of 'morning'.

Luag is easy, but then he's relatively recent. I was already in Mulligan and wanted another student character as I think I had Gus and Justin at the time. Someone with angst I could handle and could actually interact easily with other students and that damn MacFusty name on the character list kept tempting me because 'omg dragons!'. Dragons are cool, etc, etc. I couldn't see someone from that family as a Ravenclaw though. Which immediately brought to mind my cousin's character Alexander McDouglas (omg, such old artwork). Scottish island boy (I think he's from the Orkneys?) from a pureblood family of Gryffindor Aurors who is the brainy Ravenclaw but no one knows it because he makes a point of solving things with his fists instead of his brains. So, I took that template and ran with it, changing the local, having it be a family of Gryffindor dragon keepers and quiddy players, adding more sisters and fleshing it out a bit. And then making him gay because I had a surprising lack of gay characters at the time and I hadn't really gone through the character arc of a character coming to grips with their sexuality. The PB was easy considering Riley's character matched the developing MacFusty's so well and Argy was on my list of PBs I wanted to use and went with the McDouglas blue eyes and dark hair (or I thought it was dark). The name came from looking up Gaelic name sites and having really liked that names pronunciation from Gargoyles of MacBeth's son (although spelled differently).

Let's see, I think that's it. Grumpy Luag was born! At first, he ended up being a smooshed together version of Alex McDouglas and my old character Michael Dios (which is funny as those two characters ended up being distantly-ish related to each other), but he grew into his own person.
