the progress will eventually flatline. with the amount of cars in the 1940s and the increase in the 1950s, they figured we'd have no room to live and cars would be coming out of our ears by now. well, it's certainly not like they assumed, and cars keep getting more efficient. same thing can be said about the global warming effect vs. the ice age. and lots of other things that seem like problems but really aren't.
