Krow - Week 2 - The Omega Family

Mar 05, 2011 09:42

Omega. Omegaomegaomega. He is my favourite, okay. Because I am supposed to do a lot of course work in the coming year, this may or may not be the point from which updates get a fair bit slower. It's also the point where I feel mildly guilty for SPAMMING EVERYONE with BACC updates.

Saxo's second week in Krow begins on the second day of winter, with $13,876 in the bank. I had ~plans~ for this week though, which required moar money. So Saxo's second week in Krow also begins with digging.

In his pyjamas, so apparently it wasn't a cold morning. He found two rocks, a bone, and a Shapes in Space. Not enough!

Initially, my plan was for Saxo to save up funds for a community lot, so that he and Rose could open a small clothing boutique. The proceeds from the boutique would then facilitate Saxo learning to garden and if it thrives, he could have a second shop for selling the produce.

A townie appeared and Saxo went to make friends.

That scowl cemented Saxo as my favourite sim in this neighbourhood. I cannot look at it without giggling.

They talked all day, becoming fairly good friends. Saxo is naturally outgoing, he makes friends more easily than I expected. I tend to create my sims as being very shy, though, so maybe that's the difference I'm noticing.

It got quite a lot colder after dark and with snow looming, Saxo dug for treasure while he could.

He found a "Measure of a Sim" wooden model. Then it was a shower and bed, with Day 2 holding the possibility of seeing Rose.

The day dawned bright and cold but with no snow. Saxo greeted a local stray and then went about the business of tidying up his shack-turned-house.

This was all in preparation for a visit from Rose, who was more than happy to come over.

They are too freaking cute. :| I let them have the day on free will, by and large. They cuddled under the clouds, talking about barbecues and teddybears. He made lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches. Rose complimented him on the addition of windows.

That evening, he proposed.

:)

They said goodnight after that, and Rose went home with a shiny engagement ring. Saxo did a bit more digging and recovered a treasure chest.

Snow! You can expect a lot of OOH SNOW! moments, so be warned. I like it, it's pretty. :C

I seem to be incapable of taking a photo of the roof during the day time, so you probably can't tell but it is different. With the recent renovations, I upgraded the roof from rusted metal to metal. It seemed fitting.

Day 3 came with more digging. I was determined to get him and Rose a community lot by the end of the week.

Further, I don't like them digging when it's snowing because that's just mean. :| So Saxo had to dig before the next snowfall. The paperboy remains fascinated by all of this.

Saxo found a 12 Century Vase, earning 4,000. I thought that was nice of him.

The community lot I want them to have is this one:

It's one of several old buildings around the neighbourhood, left behind when everyone else moved forward (and away) in the name of progress.

It's completely empty on the inside, and to make a go of it they'll need to re-do the walls and basically decorate the hell out of the thing. It'll take time and money. The lot, as is, cost 5,200. I estimated another 5,000 for renovations and getting the place off the ground. Saxo had the cash on hand, but, I didn't want to do anything until Rose joined the family.

The house itself is in need of extension too, lol. What I like most about having to wait a full week before doing any home improvement is that I have to strategise. For instance, at this point in the game Saxo's kitchen is too small. I want a big garden. The house has to be expanded so that when they have sprogs, there are no bottlenecks. I know what I want to do but it will have to go in stages, as it's needed. On the other hand, it means I won't be adding willy-nilly, resulting in a rather ugly house. :| Bonus points that the block is only 20x20 and therefore ~creativity~ is needed to avoid running out of room. I sense a rabbit warren ahead.

After digging his heart out, Saxo had built up funds of 23,332, heeheehee. He still has Humble's computer... I still don't know what to do with them. Give them to townies?

That afternoon, Rose came to visit!

They spent the afternoon being ADORABLE. Are you surprised? Saxo rolled the wish to get married to her, so he invited her to stay the night. I was really hoping they'd sleep in the same bed together, given their relationship stats, but Rose had route failure for hours. :| I don't know what that was about.

Eventually, though, she made it. Tell me that's not cute.

Day 4!

Rose woke up at 5am and left because of starvation. :| baaaahhhhhh. The whole point of her staying over was so that I wouldn't have to invite her over to get married.

So Saxo wouldn't get her answering machine. :| Three times. I then got him to call his various townie friends (all two of them) and they were also at work. Sigh.

He ended up going outside and building a snowman.

Saxo, why. :| He didn't have low aspiration OR mood.

Finally, after spending the rest of his day studying, Saxo successfully invited Rose over. They hung out a bit, had something to eat.

And she joined the family. :) Rose brought in 5,400 in funds, giving them 28,000. She is a Fortune sim, just like I suspected, and her aspiration is to be a Hall of Famer. SHE WAS ALREADY AN ALL STAR. ;_________; I really wanted to keep her in her job, so instead of a boutique... the community lot was zoned for a sports bar, with darts, thereby unlocking a position in the Athletic career and allowing her to keep her job. With the added money, the community lot had more potential.

She also came with a lot of skills. @_@ Turns out that Saxo likes people who are fit and athletic, and she likes someone who is clean, but unemployed. No wonder they had such chemistry. XD

They didn't have much of a wedding night: exhausted from the day, Saxo turned in about 9pm, lol. Rose painted a lot and eventually went to bed around 5am.

I'm in two minds about changing her clothes. On the one hand, there are no clothing boutiques in town and as such, no logical place to acquire new clothes. On the other, I really do not like the clothes she is wearing. By Maxis premade standards they're decent, but I don't like them. :| I can change her wardrobe with the aid of a custom clothing rack, but should I wait until there is a clothing boutique? What do you think?

Day 5!

Rose went to work as an All Star and Saxo purchased that lot.

It was then that I remembered a lot I'd built for a college town... a community pool. It requires no staff, no decoration, and because it's sports related, it counts in opening a slot for the athletic career.

Unfortunately, it costs 43,000. :| So I went back to the sports bar idea.

Before:

After:

All up it cost about 12,000 to build the toilets and furnish the inside. I always forget to add a phone. :| Customers were quick to turn up, though.

This is what I hate about businesses... the constant need to convince customers to buy things. Alas, I have lots of this to look forward to.

Saxo earned a bit of side money at the poker table, ignoring the minor that was with them at lunchtime on a friday. The bar made it to Rank 1 on the first day. Saxo was promptly sent home.

Rose got a chance card and ended up losing 15,000. :| They only had 11,000 after the community lot renovation, so the Omegas went to having zero money.

DIG GUYS, DIG.

After four bones, two rocks, a little jug of wishes and Rose's salary, they had ~1,000. Not enough for reno on Day 7, though. :| Things might have progressed better if Saxo hadn't kept hitting water pipes.

They turned in after dark to enjoy each other's company.

Man, I want to see their cute babies. :| I have no sound effects in my game (I turned them off long ago), so I have no idea when sims fall pregnant. Usually, the mass stat decay is what clues me in. FUN TIMES.

On Day 6, food stock began to get low, which is unsurprising. Saxo eats like a horse. The only way to replenish food is either a) through gardening and fishing, b) through purchasing a fridge from a store owned by another sim (so not from the catalogue), c) purchasing groceries from a store owned by another sim, or d) by getting them delivered with an additional 50% cost for long distance delivery.

Fortunately the pair only had one more day in this rotation so they didn't run out of food, but one of the existing families needs to start up a grocery or else these guys are toast.

Is it just me or is he smirking?

Right after this meal, Rose ran off and hurled it back up. BABIES. Oh god I hope they don't have more than twins. They can't afford that. ;_;

She then went to work and Saxo resigned himself to yet more digging.

Hello, teen!townie. :| I WANT YOUR EYES in my gene pool.

After a full day of digging, the Omegas had close to 7,000. RENO TIME.

Day 7 featured a minor house extension.

I extended the kitchen a bit out the back. It's a bit narrow and I don't love it, but it's better than it was because now there's space to eat inside, which means that Saxo will actually EAT AT THE TABLE in his own house. Or, I will kill him. ):<

I moved the easel outside, bought them an apple tree and some baby furniture, while there were funds to do so. All up, it only cost ~4,000 which is good because now Saxo has a nice cushion of ~3,000 for when he goes to his bar again.

At 11pm that night, Rose got up out of bed after being asleep for only an hour or two.

Sure enough...

:)

With week 2 at an end for the Omega family, it's Patchwork's turn.
