Stoneybrook Academy

Hey, everyone! I'm writing a fic centering around Karen for babysitters100 and have a question about Stoneybrook Academy. I've already tried checking the Complete Guide, but didn't have any luck ( Read more... )

questions: canon, books: little sister, stoneybrook: schools

Stoneybrook Academy is up to all High School levels. So, Yes you can make that Little Devil Child as an 8th grader. Shannon and Bart are 8th graders as well, if I'm not mistaking.

I think you're thinking of Stoneybrook Day School, but thank you for the reply! :)

Oh, yeah, oops you're right! But I think SA is the same.

i don't think it's ever been consistent in the books if it's K-5 or K-8. i seem to recall some book where Karen gets a haircut and a middle-schooler likes it, though i could be making that up and it could just be a fourth- or fifth-grader. D:

at any rate, i don't think it'll ruin the canonocity of your fic if you have eighth-graders haha :D

The one where she gets the bad haircut has some 6th graders making fun of her, so it could be K=6 too.

True! Hmm. If it's inconsistent in the books, I'll probably go ahead and have Stoneybrook Academy go up to at least 8th grade. I just didn't want to do it if it was established in canon as strictly K-5/6! :/

No, I don't think it's ever mentioned as strictly K-5/6. I don't ever remember mentions of 7th and 8th graders, but it's not canon that there aren't.

In Poor Mallory, Amanda Delaney asks Mallory if she goes to Stoneybrook Academy or Stoneybrook Day School, so both schools definitely include sixth grade. Given that, you'd probably be pretty safe making it a K-8 or K-12 schools. Granted, some elementary schools do run K-6, but with no evidence to the contrary, why not do what you want?

I remember that scene now that you mention it! Alright, so based off the comments I've received, it seems like it should definitely be okay for me to have Karen at Stoneybrook Academy. :D Thank you!

I'm pretty sure it's K-8. I looked at other posts under the tag "stoneybrook: schools", and there's one mentioning that an 8th grader takes Karen's picture in one of the LS books.

Oh, really? That's great - I was thinking SA at least went up 'til 8th, but I couldn't recall any specific information from canon to back that up because it has been awhile since I've read LS. Thank you very much. ♥

Yep, it's in Karen's Prize. An eighth grader takes her photo for the school paper :)

Haha, I also have vague plans for an older-Karen fic for babysitters100! But mine is still an idea in its infancy that may become two separate fics. Or no fics at all. And I haven't even posted my prompt table yet. Hmm.

Ha. The mere thought is scary, isn't it? When I signed up for babysitters100, I swore to myself that I would make a point to write at least one prompt for each of the two characters that I have always absolutely hated. Karen, of course, was one of them.

I'm actually finding that she is very fun to write, though! Especially since I am giving this fic a bit of a parody feel. ; )

I would love to read it! Is there anywhere that I could?

Absolutely! :) It isn't finished yet, and probably won't be until tomorrow or Wednesday, but I will post to babysitters100 when it is! It won't be locked or anything, so you'll see it if you watch that community.
