how come we itch? scratching never helps, so you'd think it would be a really stupid reaction for our bodies to have evolved. in fact scratching just makes it all worse, deepens the wound etc. that should have made our itchy ancestors all infected and that would have made them die before they could reproduce ( Read more... )

I should be so dead (not born). I'm such a scratcher. But yeah, I wonder, why do we itch.

I think maybe because of bugs? Scratching should remove them.

As for evolution, I think people have generally more allergies than they would without medicine and social support for people with, like, wheat allergies.
