how come we itch? scratching never helps, so you'd think it would be a really stupid reaction for our bodies to have evolved. in fact scratching just makes it all worse, deepens the wound etc. that should have made our itchy ancestors all infected and that would have made them die before they could reproduce.

maybe we just haven't gotten around to evolving that far yet. if it weren't for modern medicine, what evolutionary changes do you think we'd be developing right now?
