It feels like I just got home from work and I have to go back again this morning.   For people who work until 5 p.m. it would be like getting home at 5:30 p.m. and then being back at work the next morning at 4 a.m.  Fun times ( Read more... )

Do you guys have a surveillance camera to catch those who fill up and run? That is so annoying!!!
They (your employers) don't make you pay for it do they? I'm thinking that would be the end of that job if they did!
Keep your eye on the paycheque (and maybe the classifieds in case something better comes up!)!

I don't have to pay for the lost gas sales, thankfully. Normally our gas pumps are full serve but they've been so short staffed for a while that it's been self serve. When we're out there pumping gas and can monitor who's out there, it doesn't happen as often. We go back to full serve on Monday.

There aren't many nighttime jobs around here that are more glamorous than this one. I could work at the bar, or work evenings as a waitress (which I would hate even more than this). What I NEED is to be catching some babies instead !!

and that is just GROSS about the toilets. nasty!!!!!
you are so brave!!!
I would have quit and not cleaned them...I retch when I clean our own home bathrooms and they are not nearly as bad as your description.
gross.

It means someone filled up with gas and then drove away without paying. We're responsible for keeping an eye on the pumps and pay attention to who is filling up, what their description is etc. When I was alone on the floor and it was busy, I just didn't notice everyone :-/

Cleaning the men's bathroom is revolting, but today I was reciting my favorite "work" verse, "do everything unto the Lord" over and over. Other times I imagine my credit card balances at ZERO.

omg!! I cannot even IMAGINE how brave you'd have to be to fill up and then drive off!! WOW!
Doesn't the station have video cameras?
Can you get their license plate # and report them or what??
wow.

I like your mantra!!!!

It can only get better! Imagining the zero balance on the credit card is a good idea... it will be well worth it.
And I don't get why supervisors act like jerks, especially in this 'boom time' when good workers are so hard to find. They should appreciate a responsible adult as an employee.

It is such a travesty that you can't get on with any midwives. The system sucks! (makes me appreciate UBC!) Is Utah a possibility? Didn't you have a dream of the family going down there together in November? Or would that not be enough, to catch those babies? So unfair.

I could go to the US but the thought of all the red tape involved to get us all there just gives me a headache. I'm tired of thinking about possibilities that never seem to come to anything :-/

Hmmmm, I see your point. But this is all just so wrong. I hope you hear something promising soon. No, let me rephrase that... I hope someone comes to their senses soon. This whole situation is so wrong. Midwifery needs you!
