a funeral

An elderly lady from our church died this week and her funeral was today, at our church.  I think this is the first funeral I've been to since Abby died, and the fact that it was at our church as well, made it especially hard.  I concentrated on the differences between this funeral and Abby's; Vera had a large oak casket, Abby's was tiny and white. A man of few words, for sure. In a weird way, it was nice to see his tears again. He hides his grief from everyone, including me and that makes me feel very alone. It was nice to not feel so alone for a change.

I can totally relate to this right now. Seeing the tears is definitely a welcome sight, in a strange sort of way.
