On a whim, Jack suggested that we go visit Kim, so with some "casual" probing questions I figured out her work and class schedule for this weekend and we hit the road.
Yeah, he misses her. I think it's hard for dads to see their little girls grow up and he certainly didn't understand her teenaged-girl drama and attitude the past few years, but he loves her to bits and was SO happy to see her.
What a fun surprise for her!! I have childhood memories of being bored in restaurants but loving the Shirley Temple treat too! That is odd/interesting that they brought a laptop movie over for the girls...
Truthfully, I was quite surprised and annoyed that they didn't have crayons, just a DVD player. I mean, really....
But, they were really starting to unravel after a long and exciting day and we needed to eat! They would watch a few minutes, squirm and pester each other, watch another minute or so, remind us they were D.O.N.E. with being in a restaurant, watch a few more minutes - I didn't even have a PEN in my purse to let them draw with!

And, thank you :-) It's nice to see the fruits of my mommy-labour, to know that I helped raise such a wonderful young woman!
