Basically it is a box that streams programming to your tv off of the internet. There are a series of apps for specific programming. Like baseball then the MLB app would show you games. Like watching movies...Netflix, Crackle, Vudu and a zillion others (some free, some by subscription) can be added and you can watch movies that way. This device can be hooked up using wireless, or wired. (I have my wired because it's in my room where the router lives so it is no biggie. But if I wanted to just use wifi I could (and I have tested it).
Granted most folks get stuff like this so they can "cut the cable". Hulu shows a lot of programming that is on the major networks. I don't plan to do that because there are things on tv that you wouldn't necessarily be able to find on a device. Also tv shows might be a day later than the original air date. So one's mileage may vary. ^__^

Interesting. I've seen them advertised but wasn't really sure what they were for.
