Hygiene here really bothers me. While I'm such everything is regulated to the point of insanity, it isn't enforced. badrach could never eat at a döner place, a mensa and probably not most restaurants because there is clearly too little food service training. A vegetarian friend of mine was getting food at the mensa, had already picked up a 'vegetarian'

It's true! I used to be super careful about food cross-contamination.
Since I lost most of my allergies, I just try to avoid places that use nuts and bring along my epipen.

Nowadays I can eat local döner places after I verify the place is all nut-free because I know the worst they can do is cross it with milk products, which I can tolerate now.
