I started the new semester last month, been so busy. I'm excited about starting a research project. I think I want to write on the origins of Islamofascism. Why is Islam merged with Fascism? It doesn't make sense. Next week, I'll go to a proposal writing workshop. Meanwhile, I'm going to see if I can find a mentor to guide me with my research. It'

I've really gotten into listening to the Philosopher's Zone, courtesy of iTunes, and you're right - most philosophy really does seem to deal in extremes of idealism. Utilitarianism seems especially tricky for the reasons you mentioned... it seems like a good philosophy until you start to see just how difficult it can be to distinguish what is "good," nevermind what the "greatest good" is.

Man, just thinking about it makes my brain a little sore.
