I'm going through Hunger Games withdrawal so I might watch a movie trio that really represents it.

The Hunger Games= The Running Man because it's pretty much the same thing but without kids. If the movie was closer to the book it would be exactly the same thing except Katniss would die at the end.

Catching Fire= The original Rollerball with James ( Read more... )

Maybe Battle Royale for the first Hunger Games. :-)

Your Mockingjay choice is interesting. Makes me want to watch Starship Troopers again (though the book is far superior). :-)

I like the book of Starship Troopers but they're such different things I can't really see one in the other. I know that the guy who made the movie only got half way through the book and stopped reading because he found it both depressing and boring. The movie is hilarious while the book is typical Heinlein philosophy (and I love Heinlein).

I heard that people compared The Hunger Games to Battle Royale but I don't really see it. I like Battle Royale a lot but I don't really see it in the same light. I heard that people called Hunger Games a copy of Battle Royale and Stephen King stepped up and said something along the lines of, "Seriously? Has no one ever read Running Man? It's really not like the movie. This book is totally Running Man with kids. But I don't have a problem with it so STFU." If you've never read it you totally should.

You are absolutely right. I enjoyed Starship Troopers the movie but quite on a different level. I'm looking for a copy so I can re-watch. :-)

And yup, I've read and watched Running Man. And I totally get the "Hunger Games is Running Man with kids". Hunger Games even reminded me of The Long Walk, too (another King classic). Albeit more in spirit than in execution. I think the comparison with Battle Royale is probably cuz they are kids. Hehe.

I forgot to add that I think I remember watching Rollerball but am having a hard time placing it. Probably means that needs a rewatch. Hahaha!
