Movies

I'm going through Hunger Games withdrawal so I might watch a movie trio that really represents it.

The Hunger Games= The Running Man because it's pretty much the same thing but without kids. If the movie was closer to the book it would be exactly the same thing except Katniss would die at the end.

Catching Fire= The original Rollerball with James Caan because it's about a guy who is too good at playing a game that's supposed to be about oppression and a lack of individuality and as he becomes a symbol of the people the government takes away the rules of the game so that he will die on the track in front of the people but instead he changes the world and gets fucked in the process.

Mockingjay= Starship Troopers wherein the hero's hometown gets wiped off the map and he must step up to fight a war even though he's not particularly special (he's great at football which gives him some special skills in the war just like Katniss is great with a bow). His high school sweetheart becomes too hardcore for him to keep up with and gets a more prominent role in the war while the girl who always loved him becomes his rock. His real gift is being inspirational and looking great in propos wherein we learn that "They'll fight and they'll win!"

Or I could just read about the Romans with their vomitoriams, arenas, bread and circuses, and a ruler who is more into playing music than growing roses.

So that's my trio. Disagreements? Suggestions?

rome, rollerball, starship troopers, movies, hunger games, running man
