Earthbound - Dead Bug's Elegy
Shocky gave me a request for the song challenge meme I posted in my journal, and one of the randomized songs I got was Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem. She wanted an angsty Earthbound piece to it. The angst already speaks for itself in the lyrics, but hey. I tried. ;; This was going to be centered around the Flying Men, but it requires me to do something specific in the game that I wouldn't find on the Internet (aka getting the text of their gravestones), and I've come up with a better candidate: Buzz Buzz. So you get a ficlet about Buzz Buzz and Magicant. That said, this ficlet is best read while listening to Dead Boy's Poem.

Someone needed to stir the courage of the Chosen Four with poetry. To help them compose the melody that would keep them going and revive the world with music. To encourage them to find their Sanctuaries and awaken themselves with beauty. To cheer them on to save the world with creativity. To prevent a future where inspiration had lost long ago.
In his time, Buzz Buzz lived in a world where beauty was dead. There was nothing to look at, nothing to care for. No color, no hope, no song, no sketch. Every dischord, every abstract spiral, it all belonged to Mani-Mani. The ugliness of man got taken for granted and that's what made Giygas strong. There was no room to think, and there was no individual Magicant but Giygas' own. By destroying his dream and allowing his Nightmare to reign, Giygas swallowed the universe to ensure its inhabitants the same. The more Giygas expanded, the more space he covered. Fortunately, a large cell cannot circulate as well as a tiny cell. There were spots open on the way.
Buzz Buzz realized his fate when he volunteered to go back to the past; a true artist suffers and is forgotten of his achievements long after his time. If the legend comes true and the Chosen Four free the world from Giygas, his time would be erased from existence entirely. He told Ness everything but what would happen to him if he died. But he knew him to be a smart boy... and a good boy too. But should he come to realize the conclusion that's fallen upon his bug companion, he need not grieve for him. But he would, wouldn't he? That was the true art of the human spirit. The soul is art.
