I either have the patience of a saint or the stubbornness of a moron. I really can't tell which some days.

But seriously, this whole thing started because I thought it was terrible that she was putting herself down so much by essentially siding with people who said she was worthless. It was terrible to hear that people have taught her that she could never be strong or intelligent just because she's a woman. But the fact that she's so stubborn about being that way and about being shallow (because, of course, intelligence doesn't hold a candle to physical strength, doncha know) sort of kept me going with her just on principle. Now, though, I see that it's literally not even worth it because she's just going to keep on being a terrible person.

It's just really sad to hear that people are encouraging her to put down women and be shallow (as inadvertent as that may be), though.

True, but haven't other members like matt0044 done the same thing?

True, but when it comes to matt, it's just over the point of characterization or plot, and it's pretty easy to see how opinions over what he's doing (well, besides the squick that is detailing underaged furry girls bathing and calling it "sex humor") might be considered subjective. Meanwhile, we've all pretty much told her, "You know, these are really sensitive issues that could be construed as intensely offensive on a moral level, and here's why," but she decided that she didn't like how we've been politely telling her (for the most part) that she's offending people. I guess in short, the reason why what matt and folks like him did was fine to annoying while what she's doing is absolutely fucking aggravating is because at least matt and so forth were only asking about extremely trivial matters. So the only thing that he did wrong was basically blow people off, not be a sexist possible homophobe on top of that.

I just stopped when she posted a rewrite and I ( ... )

Unfortunately, there's some pretty effing stupid people on the internet who are completely serious about their beliefs. (Case in point.) So I'm always a little bit cautious in deeming someone else a troll because when it comes to opinions like these, I wouldn't be surprised, honestly.

Wait, I'm confused again, what is Men's History Month?

Men's History Month is a month-long event invented by the subject of this post to celebrate men's history, likely because there's a Black History Month and a Women's History Month, so clearly, white men are being ignored.

Y'know. Despite the fact that 90% of all discussed history in her (our) country is about white men in the first place, so we sort of don't need a reminder that men did awesome things the way many of us need reminders of the awesome things women and minorities have done. Especially since most of the latter aren't even discussed in a classroom setting. (If your high school taught you about Gloria Steinem, for example, your school was awesome.)

She's completely blown me off too (well, I've only sent her a VM twice, but she never responded to either, so. *shrug*).

We should form a club! \o/

I still think she seems a little too genuine to be a troll. That, or she's one of the most convincing trolls I've ever seen. This all over. Honestly, when she first ( ... )

No, I actually have sigs disabled, so there was a beautiful time when I was completely and blissfully unaware of the BS she was pulling (as usual) in her sig. I just noticed today what it said because I happened to be on her profile to look for her story (because I was too lazy to search through pages on the forum but somehow not lazy enough to go the long way to find it).

But I did notice that she was happily blowing people off by making fun of our troubles with her story in her warnings.

Really, I think her fics are like Twilight but with less popularity. There's very real social issues she didn't intend on adding to them, and there's two groups of people who react to them: the people who notice and call her out on them and the comparatively smaller group of people who apparently have no qualms with the truckloads of unfortunate implications.

Yes, I totally just compared fans of her story to Twihards.

There's one thing though: there's lots of Twihards, but in all honesty I don't see much of anyone who actually takes Silver seriously.

There's folks who say that her premises are interesting while glossing over the fact that they're founded on seriously offensive or otherwise problematic ideas. (Case in point. The review she got to her revision on SPPf also seems to ignore the fact that literally everyone in Palkia's past has one way or another encouraged her to continue being disabled according to the nature of her own species.) In a way, it's like a smaller-scale Twilight fanbase in that there's a lot of people who are trying to tell her that her writing is problematic while a comparatively smaller set of readers don't see what the big deal is. Same thing with Twilight. Most people see it as a joke, but there's still a fan following that's comparatively smaller and made of people who fail to see the rampant abuse (and other fun things).

At first I felt sorry for her. But when she refuses to even consider that she's doing ( ... )
