I wouldn't say you were unproductive (and yay for marathon nap!). It feels like one doesn't get done much, but actually a lot happens, particularly with so long a break from the story. Although I miss the characters and the story of my NaNo thing, I think it's good to return in a few weeks, with a lot more distance, to edit and to make sure I get the ending right -- which is why I've allowed myself to neglect the novel. I love it, but I'm not entirely happy about the ending. Maybe it's the same with you, and just revisiting the world you created will give you some ideas, and, who knows, you might sit down, edit and finish it.

Zoo and rain belong together, IMO. As far as I can remember, most visits to the zoo have been accompanied by showers. Plus, it's less busy than in picture-perfect weather and one gets to see so much more, and, if they have a petting zoo, Andrew will get a chance to touch one of the animals (I loved that, but I hated the smell).

That's part of the problem - it is finished, in that it has a beginning, middle, and end - but it's also over 900 pages, and every guide I've ever seen says that there's no way a first-time author is going to have a book that long published on the first go. It's not exactly cast-of-thousands, but it's fairly epic. (Most of my DW plots pale in comparison. Well, in terms of simplicity, anyway.)

The zoo was excellent, and we weren't even close to the only people there. We left just as the rain started, though. Andrew and I fed the goats and lambs and saw lots of other animals. The kangaroos, once again, dissed us. Stupid kangaroos.

WOW Your son has suddenly turned into an extreme napper. That's CRAZY.

Wow, maybe you were just ready to face this one. I also hate edits but when I'm ready I find it a lot easier to do. Anyway maybe it will yield good results for you in the end.

I'm glad you went to the zoo yesterday with Andrew; you can't be fenced in all the time, and a change of scenery, seeing new things will only enhance Andrew's life(yours as well.)
