Oh, yay! Water Music! There are two things I very much envy you: Your totally awesome planet names, first. Heaven! What a thing of genius! And Antigone! And, second, your dialogue. You write simply the best dialogue. Your Doctor just sounds so much like the Doctor. Loved the, "Are we there yet?" "No, we're not there yet. Now we're there" exchange.

Most of the time, I just bang at the keyboard until a decent planet or alien name pops up. The thing I really hate is naming the various mechanical parts of the TARDIS.

But...dialogue. My favorite part of any story, really. I'm glad you liked it! :)

Hurrah, youre back!! what I miss the most is the dialogue between Alice and the Doctor, which you never fail to deliver. And of course River and the Doctor.

Thanks! I love writing Alice's conversations with the Doctor - they've been traveling together for two years by this point, they know each other very well. It makes them tons of fun to write - and exactly the opposite for River and the Doctor, because they don't know each other half as well as they think they do, which is equally fun in an entirely different way.

I think you first started posting this story during one of my periodic "Absolutely No WIPs" phases. And of course, when one has begun not reading something it is much easier to continue not reading it, than to get caught up.

But. You've promised it's finished now, so I went and read the whole thing. It is lovely, deeply fascinating, just complex enough to require engaging the brain but not enough to be off-putting. But the best part is the characters. The depth of feeling and interaction make it very engaging.

On the show, I really liked the concept of River Song but not the execution. As much as I like the actress as well, I found the character unbearably smug and annoying. So the fact that you've made me like her, want to know more, is an achievement.

A reason to keep looking forward to Wednesdays!

Very likely. We all have those phases from time to time. This was the first WIP I started posting - usually I like to wait until the entire story is finished before I begin, because I tend to do a lot of discovery as I write, and I like to be able to go back and insert things in early chapters.

Also, I can't stand having started a WIP and then having it never be finished. Water Music has been on my mind a lot in the last year, because I knew I needed to finish it.

You've promised it's finished now...

It is. Seventeen chapters and an epilogue.

It is lovely, deeply fascinating, just complex enough to require engaging the brain but not enough to be off-putting. But the best part is the characters. The depth of feeling and interaction make it very engaging.

Goodness! Thank you! *blushes*
