Previously He wished that his mother watched over him. At least that way, he would only have to put up with a woman sighing in the background, glazed with the pseudo-euphoria of her smokes. The disapproval and tears coming from those lavender eyes was stabbing him more than the shooting pains flashing up his arms as he connected blow after blow at Cain.
His wife and son made token attempts to save him. His men just pulled her away, sobbing and crying. His son, Jeb, it was, threw himself at him, too young to realise that Zero was much bigger than him. Cass would have been able to beat him. Zero flicked the boy away and smirked.
"Take them," he told his men, enjoying the sudden fear in Cain's eyes. He bent close, so he could whisper in his ear. "I'll take good care of them, Cain. I promise." Cain strained against the men who held him. Zero chuckled and signalled to his men. They pushed him into the tin suit and locked him inside. Zero slammed Ambrose's toy into a convenient post and the memory began to replay.
The Sorceress appraised him when he arrived before her. "I trust your revenge has been sated?" she smirked.
He nodded. "Thank you, Sorceress. As promised, I'm yours." He was aware of not being entirely truthful. Sure he took care of Cain, made him believe that he'd killed his family. So his family's not actually dead - perception's everything in politics.
The Sorceress smiled, if you could call it that. "Good." A sudden uncertainty came over her which surprised the hell out of Zero. Suddenly, it was as if a different woman standing there. "I'm so sorry...!" He was under no doubt as to whether this was genuine on her part.
"Sorceress?" his concern caused him to jump to her side.
"I've lost a sister too," she whispered, leaning into him. "I'm so sorry." He found himself holding her in his arms, before, like something on a spring, she straightened. "You'll be serving under General Lonot. Leave." Recovering the best he could, Zero complied, his mind running a mile a minute.
