It's due to fire up tomorrow, but to be honest I'm not really worried about it. Why? Well, first off, they're not doing collision tests until October 21st, according to Wikipedia. If something does go wrong, and by some freak chance a black hole is created, we wouldn't know about it for awhile because it would be so small.

One youtube video I found awhile back said that it could take 3-5 years for the black hole to be noticed which is kinda interesting because that would be within the dates of the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012.

... I think any black hole that didn't decay and started growing would be noticed fairly quickly.

I'm celebrating the potential armageddon with a small vodka and coke.

It's not much of an End Of The World see-off, but as you rightly point out, it doesn't seem like there's going to be much chance that the world's all going to go gloopy-grey-strange-matter on us, so I'm hedging my bets on there still being a work-in-the-morning problem to attend to.
