... it is now the time at which we were aiming to set off for our week in Somerset, and we are ready!!

I am not a screaming stressed harpy and the Resident Geek is not swearing about attempting to defy the laws of physics by trying to squeeze everything into the boot.  Not sure how this has happened.

Edge of Exmoor, near Minehead. Middle of nowhere, huge house, lots of kids! Lovely.

Beautiful! With luck I'll be down that way myself in a couple of weeks - can't wait for my first "half" of Exmoor Ale after a long walk along a river valley. I hope you're having a great time!

ETA: Pictures from my 2008 weekend on Exmoor are here. It was around the same time of year as your current trip.

Oh, gorgeous pics! The ones of the sunset are amazing, mine never come out like that! We saw lots of primroses and lambs, too (and cream teas, ahem...)

I've never been quite as far along the coast as Lynmouth - we were tempted to get the open-topped bus there from Minehead, and then take the kids up the cliff railway, but didn't get around to it in the end. Maybe next time!
