LOL! Okay, I just about died, Az - thank you for the morning wake-up. Terrific comic timing, as I have come to expect from The Comic Song Muse (tm).

Legolas does a great Pained Pause. (I've always suspected him of having a very dry sense of humour; and of delivering lines so deadpan that not everyone realises he means to be as funny as he is.) But in this case I think the shudder is real!

Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully without coffee up the nose...

No, no coffee for me - I'm still working on getting breakfast made (fic before food, apparently... and both before, you know, work *sigh*). I adore the notion that Legolas is just one of those exceptionally understated people. I'm sure this talent would go well with his ability to deal with irritating diplomats.

Poor Éomer isn't only going to come in for a headache the next day - he's going to be living this one down for awhile. Possibly as long as he lives, given Legolas's and Gimli's longevity!

Partly, I think, from a mortal perspective it's just that general air of Elven Inscrutability (I don't think for a moment that those mortals are right who think Elves are emotionless; but I can well believe that Elves don't choose to show their feelings to mortals very readily, and have had centuries of practice at concealing them). But I also suspect Legolas discovered on the Quest that he could have a lot of fun with his ability not to give anything away ( ... )

He so is. (Possibly earlier, if Eowyn gets hold of him!)
