Somehow ended up discussing the topic of responsibility with a friend. It made me recall one of the things I couldn't understand about Japan. When people here talk about "taking responsibility" for any problems, it usually refers to the current dude quitting and pulling some new hapless bugger onboard to clean up the mess he's leaving behind

Also TEPCO doesn't seem to be taking any responsibility for this thing at all. And they're guilting all of Tokyo into radically conserving energy which is annoying as fuck. It's your fault that this shit went down not ours and it's the middle of summer. 28 degrees air conditioning my rear end!
