Stopped by the library this morning to pick up The Children of Men, right? Turns out there's ONE copy in the entire Baltimore County Public Library system. And it's in Towson. So they're sending it over to my branch, which means it's just me and the The Unconsoled for a few more days.

I literally marked my calendar for next saturday. & that'll be the first episode I'll get to record with my new DVR I'm getting later in the week. :D

I'm wondering about Brandon too. They didn't show too many clips of what was going on in their game- it was mostly cut aways to the A's/Tigers game.

I especially love the last one. I have to say though, I don't really like his hair this long; I prefer it when he goes a little tamer ^_~

backe looked about as good as was expected, imo. i figured we weren't going to win, but between his okay start and the surprisingly good bullpen performance, it made the loss all the more heartbreaking when we couldn't manage another couple of runs. oh well. big surprise from the suckass offense.

Yeah, I wouldn't have expected him to come in and shut down an offense as tough as the Mets, so just 4 runs is kinda impressive, if you ask me. I'd say keep the faith as far as the offense is concerned, but I start to wonder what it's gonna take to get those bats going :/

Watched the trailer for The Fountain...Hugh Jackman sure does like his weird ass period pieces.

Ooh! Where's the trailer. I am so excited for this movie. I love Rachel Weisz so much.

I missed the memo about the Astros offense being such a joke,

I'm no expert on the Astros, but I'd guess not having the Morgan Ensberg of last season, and with Jason Lane batting like .200 before he was sent down that offense took a significant hit. They can't depend only on Lance Berkman and whatever Aubrey can provide.

was happy for John Maine...he hasn't had the greatest season. We saw flashes of how good he could be last year, but a four hit shutout? That's pretty awesome.

We thought he was getting a bit lucky because he was leaving a few balls high and too much over the plate, but he did make pitches when he needed to. And a CG shutout at the major league level is a huge accomplishment, no matter who the opponent is.

but they're making me feel really bad for Alex Rodriguez, and I would appreciate it if they stopped doing that.

I am sorry for him too. And I'd rather dispense with that feeling :-P

I suppose that's what he was referring to, but it just seemed an odd way to comment on it, I guess. He had me wondering if Phil had sat down half the roster and brought up a bunch of rookies while I wasn't looking or something. But wow - they are almost dead last in the NL in hitting. I hadn't realized it was that bad.

a CG shutout at the major league level is a huge accomplishment, no matter who the opponent is.

Agreed! And beyond that, just 98 pitches? I believe you when you say he had his share of luck on his side too.

I am sorry for him too. And I'd rather dispense with that feeling :-P

**laughs** Makes you feel a little dirty, doesn't it?
