JJ Abrams to direct next Trek film. So I just heard about this, a billion years later.

If they do decide to go with that plot, the casting process is gonna be a three ring circus. Though I'll be over here geeking out at the thought of seeing the young James T. Kirk beat the Kobayashi Maru.

and a question for those watching 24 - SPOILERS FOR THE LAST TWO EPS )

tv: 24 - day five, movies

Shit, I still have two episodes of 24 to watch.

Where IS Curtis, btw? Did he die while I wasn't looking?

Hee. Stuck in traffic, I guess? What hour are we on, anyway?

Shit, man. I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking.

Tomorrow will be 1AM to 2AM.

Nah, it's okay. I always read 24 spoilers. The previews I caught earlier made them look like dead meat anyway.

Gah, I meant to mention this earlier: do you still watch Supernatural? I noticed it on your scrollbox of fandom, and I got hooked on it this week and wanted to know what you think of the show.

I don't actually. I stopped watching around episode 10; figured I'd just get caught up over the summer. I enjoy the dynamic between the brothers, and I thought the show was decent. I remember thinking that it would probably end up being the kind of show that never totally explored its potential. I don't know if it's embraced its darker side more, but when I was watching, it was still kinda cheesy at times and it had this tendency to stop and go as far as dealing with the complexities of the Winchester history, and I found that a little annoying.

Yeah, it's a little cheesy (last week's was vampires that weren't very threatening given their penchant for western-style clothing), but I want to see the rest during the summer.

I don't know if it's embraced its darker side more

I don't know about that. There's 2(?) episodes left, so maybe they'll go for broke. I've found it to be an enjoyable, Friday afternoon, watch with friends type show, but from what I've seen, I can see the problems you mentioned.

For now I'm imagining JJ going with his stable of actors from TV, and am having happy-Bradley-Cooper-as-Kirk thoughts.

I have no idea how they'll cast Spock, and I'm sort of afraid Naveen Andrews will end up playing a Klingon.

Still. Kobayashi Maru! Kobayashi Maru! (say that 5 times fast)

Oh, it does. It so does.

I'm calling this Star Trek-Smallville in my head, until I know otherwise.

Part of me hopes that Evelyn and Amy are still alive but the realist in me says they are long since dead.

Curtis just disappeared, he should still be alive out there somewhere.

Heh, I know what you mean. I held out hope on Dina Araz as long as I could last year ;_;

Oh DAMNIT I forgot to tell you about that!! ):-x They only had it on YahooNews about 3 days ago though; I don't consider that old news. ;-) And you actually got a better story on it than I did; the one I read mentioned NOTHING ABOUT THE STORY IDEA OMG I LOVE IT PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE PLEASE OH PLEASE

*ahem* Sorry, fanboy moment. Anyway. New ST movie=happy Jeff. Gives me reason to set foot inside a movie theater. Even if I have to wait TWO YEARS ARRRGH WHAT.

Damn, I just cannot watch shows like 24. Too stressful. How do you do it?

I can usually handle it okay, I don't find the show as a whole stressful - I find it exciting, and I like the sense of "omg what's gonna happen next?" But there can be particular moments where bad things happen, and it can be really hard to watch. Actually, the ep I watched last night had a really hard scene in it.

Okay, I forgive you on the Trek thing. But just this one, Jeff ^_~
