now you've got to kiss me

+ Man, the Cubans were annoying the everloving shit out of me. I just wanted them to PLAY THE DAMN GAME. Except the Cuban translator. I love the Cuban translator. She could be translating the obits for all the life she shows out there on the field. It's completely hilarious. The announcers spent 5 minutes at one point musing over the haircut ( Read more... )

Pudge was totally winning me over, there, man. It was so awful. :( My secret hope is Cuba vs the USA in the final game just so I can use my COMMUNISM! icon a lot and pretend it's the Cold War or something. I actually have a team I'm rooting for in each pool still even though the Venezuelans and Puerto Ricans had to go home. MAN. SO MUCH PAIN FOR ME. :( I also like how I bought a Derrek Lee tee-shirt and now he's all banged up and not playing and shit. I am like 0-for-a-gajillion.

But yes. Korea is totally kicking ass, is it not? I am forever pleasantly surprised by them. I was totally digging the Korea/Japan game just because the Japanese pitcher was all *submarine!* and guys that throw sidearm or submarine are so visually interesting to watch for me.

I am also fairly sure there is no editing of comments on purpose, because people would go back and edit and be like "I didn't say that, and this drama is pointless and you are putting WORDS in my MOUTH" or something. I could be making up having read that somewhere, though.

I KNOW. He got tagged out and then he made that sliding catch next inning and I was practically cheering him on. I felt dirty.

**laughs** That would be kinda cool. In part, because the Cubans have no marquee major leaguers, just this ridiculous record of dominating in international play, and their "own way of doing things" that the announcers can't stop commenting on. And the Cubans would totally be up for it. I can't remember the quote exactly, but early on in this tournament one of the Cubans was like "The United States is big and Cuba is small. But in baseball, Cuba is big like the United States." And he totally said it with this we'll show them! attitude. I love a good, layered story, and a Cuba v. US matchup would certainly be that.

On the other hand, it's kind of funny to me, since Ichiro was all "Japanese baseball >>>>>> all other Asian baseball." Whoops, guess not.

Why is it the more I hear from this guy the more I dislike him? :-/

Would you happen to have a link to that poem in the original Polish, by any chance? :-)

Lastly, while I was tossing and turning last night I was watching Food Network and they had on en episode of a show called "A Cook's Tour". (if you're not familiar with it, it's about a chef named Anthony Bourdain who travels the world to experience various cuisines; the farther off the beaten path the better) They were in Morocco and I saw all sorts of deliciousness that made me think of you (EVEN THOUGH YOU HATE COUSCOUS HOW CAN YOU HATE SUCH A WONDERFUL FOODSTUFF??). Honestly, some of those dishes looked so good I wanted to cry at the thought of eating them.

You know, I haven't necessarily heard that much from Ichiro, so I don't know. hidekisan is also not a fan, though :-P

The poem, in the original Polish.

**laughs** Of course it did. To paraphrase CJ, Moroccan food is delightful and delicious. As, by the way, am I :-P

(EVEN THOUGH YOU HATE COUSCOUS HOW CAN YOU HATE SUCH A WONDERFUL FOODSTUFF??).

BECAUSE IT IS PRETTY BORING AND THERE ARE WAY BETTER MOROCCAN FOODS.

Honestly, some of those dishes looked so good I wanted to cry at the thought of eating them.

Oh, I can imagine. I've always loved the care and attention Moroccan cooks show with regards to how they present their dishes. And with the exception of couscous, Moroccan food usually tastes as great as it looks ^_^

Thanks for the link! I haven't seen much Polish poetry so it was nice to read this in the original. Lots of tongue-twister words in it though. I read it aloud over ten times and still couldn't get through it without stumbling over a few sentences.

BECAUSE IT IS PRETTY BORING AND THERE ARE WAY BETTER MOROCCAN FOODS.

*shakes head* Isn't that positively unMoroccan or something to dislike couscous?? Besides, you don't just eat it by ITSELF. ;-p Put harissa on it and add some stewed spiced veggies, or something! (oh I could go for that now...)

In all seriousness, I guess you must find grain-based foodstuffs boring then? I'm the opposite; I really love grains and the like.

If you ever watch Food Network late at night maybe you might catch this show. Part of the episode, the host stayed at a residential hotel and got to watch the owner's family prepare a Friday feast; they did tajines, pastillas and couscous as well as a bunch of other dishes like salads. It was very cool to watch them cooking; they did everything from scratch
