I bought...

Feb 05, 2007 11:13

I went to the bookstore last night...sort of by mistake, because I was actually going to buy office files but the office stores were closed, so after all the trouble, I had to go somewhere and what better place to go than a bookstore?

So...you, know, I hardly ever buy books, least of all books I have never read, but, I bought Crime and ( Read more... )

books, writing

Raskolnikov says you have done a good thing, a very good thing. . . . I love that book so much. I want to feel its love spread through the world. XD Eee, I'm so happy! And you're enjoying it! I've got another Crime and Punishment fangirl! EEEEEEEEEEEE!

Publishing is. . .eh. It's hard to get published, and there's no guarantee that just because something's good, it will get published, or even sell much at all. But if you love writing, it's just what you do. . . .

Yeeeess, I'm definitely a Crime and Punishment fangirl now! I'm almost halfway through, not quite, but almost...it's just fantastic. I'm very glad I own it now.
Oh, I feel for Raskolnikov though. :-/
(I just want to keep reading but I got called into work this evening...though I've been staying up until 3:00 AM reading anyway, so I guess that doesn't matter. Funny, now I feel a lot more cheerful. I can read until 3:00 in the morning!)

Publishing sounds like a fickle thing.

Wait until you get to the end of Part Five. X3 That part gives me chills, every time. . . .

I love that book so much, it almost hurts. ^^;

How do these things get published? I'm going to stop worrying about trying to get published and start worrying about getting something awful published.

Eh... hi. *wave* ^^; I was just reading through Flaed's f-list, instead of going to bed which I really should be doing now... but I just have to say that just today I was thinking of the exactly same thing. My first thought was, "hey, so even I will be able to get my stuff published!" and the second "but do I want to have all the rubbish I write published..." I guess what's needed here is some good friends to give honest feedback, if the editors can't do that... >.>

Oh, and Crime and Punishment is <3. That's all analyzing my brain can produce at the moment, but it's enough. ^^

It's nice to know that someone else feels that way too! I can already look back at six-month old writing and find it cringe-inducing, but if it were published...!
Incidentally, what sort of writing do you do?

Crime and Punishment... awesome awesome AWESOME!
I don't seem to have anything intelligent to say about it...I'll probably try to think about why it's so awesome after I finish reading it, but right now I'm just savoring it. I'll probably put up a long 'Why Crime and Punishment is awesome' post once I finish it. :-P

It is awesome. I'd want to read it again, but I have so many books I haven't read even once lying around and waiting to be read that... well, maybe some day I'll have time to reread some old favorites, like C & P.

Oh, and I write... hmm. Fantasy, mainly. And some little fairytalesque things. And these days I seem to have major problems in getting anything finished... *eyes the hundred and one unfinished stories on her computer* x.X

Ugh, the wonderful world of cheap-o newsprint fantasy novels. (You forgot to mention the iron breastplates, by the way.) (And the titles like "Chronicles of the Faerie War Book III: THE BLACK MACE.")

Mace, like the can that paranoid women carry around in their purses, or the medieval weapon? XD

What's so sad is that almost every fantasy novel gets a cheap-o newsprint. Even Lord of the Rings has a cheap-o newsprint. ;-; If Peter S. Beagle did not have a publishing company that loves him and only him, you can bet he'd get cheap-o newsprint editions too. . . .

XD, yes yes YES!

How could I have overlooked the iron breastplate...? I should be ashamed of myself.
