I actually went out and saw fireworks this evening. It was worth braving the crowds. There was something enjoyable and even mildly peaceful in watching fireworks, perhaps just by virtue of dropping everything and going to celebrate with hundreds of other people, instead of shutting myself up in the house because it's 'too crowded and noisy' out ( Read more... )

I just finished Crime and Punishment . That book is so brilliant! What struck me most - as far as general things go - was how realistic all the characters were in their irrational, emotional, humaneness, for lack of a better word.
