Two things

1. I have to figure out how to leave my work at the office. I can't let one stupid phone call or one frustrating conversation follow me home and ruin my mood. If anyone has suggestions for how to do this, I'm listening. I know this can't be something that only happens in the legal profession ( Read more... )

I find that not caring about my job helps me go a long way to compartmentalizing so I leave it all behind me. I often go the entire weekend without thinking about work until I'm in the shower on Monday morning.

hobbies schmobbies. most of the time when i get home i'm too tired to do much.

and the "thx mama" license plate was on another car i saw last night.

The truck does sound funny. Too bad it probably drinks a lot of gas as well.

i think for the first year, you will get really upset about work and let things like phone calls get to you.

after a year, these things will become part of the work tableau, and while theyll stick suck, you won't lose as much sleep over them. that doesn't mean you won't care about your job. you'll just be equipped to deal with it better. trust me. my first year at my old paper, every other phone call was someone complaining about not getting their paper, or their birthday announcement not getting in, or slanted coverage or whatever. and it got to me. but not no more. now those people call lick my butt and suck on my balls.
