Chapter 4:
They went to a nearby restaurant after buying some fruits from the market. It was Kazuya’s suggestion to go there and Jin doesn’t have any objection on it at all. Besides, it doesn’t matter where they go or what they do, all that matters is that she’s with him and he’s with her.
While waiting for Kazuya’s order, she took out one pear and took a bite on it. Jin watched her, amazed as she ate the delicious fruit.
He wondered how the little fruit she was holding and eating was like. He couldn’t eat it. He wasn’t given that skill. Like we all know, he’s an angel and not a mortal.
“What’s that like?” He asked. He couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer, he has to know.
“This?” Kazuya asked pointing at the fruit.
“What’s it taste like? Describe it… Like Hemingway.” He questioned.
“Well… It taste like a… a pear.” She replied with a giggles in between her words.
Kazuya flashes him a smile and added “You don’t know what a pear taste like?”
“I don’t know what a pear tastes like to you.” He replied as he kept an eye contact on her.
“It’s Sweet… Juicy… soft on your tongue… Grainy… like sugary sound dissolves in your mouth… How is that?” She explained.
“It is perfect!” He exclaimed.
For some reason, Kazuya felt happy and jumpy inside when she heard him say that. She didn’t know how to react to his words. All she can do is give him a warm smile.

8:36 PM, Jin brought her back to the hospital. She was still on duty when she left to go to the central library and unintentionally ate out with Jin. They walked through the corridor and went directly to the laboratory.
“The first time I looked in a microscope, I knew I wanted to be a doctor.” She explained as she opens the lights in the said room.
That place made her remember the reason for who she is right now; a successful and talented doctor. That place made her feel better than any place in the hospital; it was her comfort place.
“Okay… Let me have your hand.” She requested as she pulled out from a drawer a glass slide.
“What for?” Jin asked in an anxious voice.
“We’ll take a look at your blood.” She replied.
“Not possible.”
“Men.”
Kazuya looked at him, giggled a little and added “I supposed you know a woman’s threshold of pain is 9 times higher than a man.”
She slowly looked at the microscope and took a look at it. As she adjusted the focus on the glass slide, Jin walks closer to her and smells her soft, scented hair. For him, that scent and that texture was heavenly.
Kazuya pulled her head back from the microscope, catching Jin standing too closer to her. She didn’t mind. She loves that distance.
“Take a look at that.” She requested him as she pointed at the microscope.
“That’s bright.” He reacts as he bent down to look at the equipment.
All Jin could see were round objects floating and moving continuously. He was amazed by the sight of it. It was his first time seeing something like this.
“That’s me… All of those cells.” She explained.
“That’s all you are.” He replied still looking at the scope.
“That and all the space in between.”
“If this is all you are… these cells… then when they die, that’s the end. “
“I don’t know… I think so.”
“How do you explain it?”
“What?”
“The enduring myth of heaven.”
She was shocked at the sudden question of handsome man. No one had ever asked her that (except for her religion teacher but that’s just another story).
“I used to think I had it all figured out.” She clarified as he looked at the man standing in front of her.
“But you didn’t?” he asked back.
“No... Because something happened in my O.R. and I got this jolt… I got this feeling that there’s something bigger out there… Something bigger than me… Bigger than you… Does that sound crazy? ” She replied.
“No.”Jin shook his head.
“I couldn’t fix him… I did everything right… and I couldn’t fix him. That’s not supposed to happen… And I…” Kazuya emotionally replied.
“…You cried.” The man continued.
“Yeah”
“Why do people cry?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean… what happens physically?”
She smiled at him and pointed out “Well… Tear ducts operate on a normal basis to lubricate and protect the eye. When you have an emotion, they overact and create tears.”
“Why… Why do they overact?” He asked curiously.
Kazuya couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Is he an idiot?” she thought. But this somewhat made her smile and happy for an unexplained reason.
“I don’t know.” She replied from amazement.
“Maybe… Maybe emotions becomes so intense… that your body just can’t contain it. Your mind and your feeling becomes too powerful… Your body weeps.” He explained his belief.
Kazuya couldn’t believe what she had heard. It was the first time that she heard such an explanation and it was also the first time that made her think “He may be right.”
Their conversation was interrupted by an emergency call on Kazuya’s Mobile Phone.
“I have to go… I got to go… Stay right here… Don’t go anywhere… Stay right there.” She told him as she hurriedly left the room.
Kazuya runs out the corridor as fast as she could. She ran off to Takizawa’s room. The nurse said it was an emergency and since Kazuya was on duty that time and that was her patient, she had to save her patient’s life.
As she arrived at his room, the nurse panicked as Takizawa-kun choked to death due to the tube inserted in his mouth.
“Get the tube out!” Kazuya instructed the nurse.
“He can’t breathe.” The nurse retorted.
“It’s because the tube is blocked.” The female doctor explained.
The two of them removed the tube in Takizawa’s mouth hurriedly. They didn’t want him to choke to death, that would be another embarrassment for the doctor’s part.
Takizawa-kun sat up as he cough and laid down as soon as he catch his breath.
“How are you feeling?” She asked as she placed an oxygen mask on his patient.
“Ready to hit the waves.” He replied with confidence.
“I’m afraid your bodysurfing days are over… You got a mean tattoo going there. What does your wife think of that?” She said as she examines his vitals.
Takizawa lifted up his right arm and showed it to his doctor and replied “That is my wife.”
Kazuya thought of having his wife tattooed on his was sweet. All she can do was flash him a warm smile.
“Check his vitals every 15.” She instructed the nurse as the both of them left.
Jin was there from the moment Kazuya arrived in that room. That time he was invisible to her. He was right beside the bed watching everything that happened.
Before he left, he placed his left hand over Takizawa’s chest and it made the patient’s body react as if he was taking a deep breath.
“He’s going to be fine.” He said to himself.
As he turned around to leave the room, he heard Takizawa said “I can’t see you but I know you’re there.”
Jin was surprised that made him turned around to look at him. “How does he know I’m here?” he asked himself.
“Go back and tell them that I’m not going… Not yet.” Takizawa told him with a manly giggle as Jin’s eyes opened widely.
--
After attending her patient, Kazuya hurriedly went back to the laboratory where she left Jin and when she arrived there, he was gone. She looked in and out of the room looking for him.
“He left?” She thought.
She felt down knowing that Jin wasn’t there anymore. She still wants to talk to him about a lot of things.
“I guess I’ll see him some other time.” She said with a big sigh at the end.
