You know you live in Queensland when the temperature on a winter's day is 24C (75.2F for the Yanks) and that's considered to be just three above average (69.8F ( Read more... )

That's a pathetic winter.

Run for PM.

That's why I call it 'slightly cooler than summer' rather than winter. I mean, seriously, we have winter days that are the same temperature as a normal summer day in parts of NZ.

Ha, I should run for PM. Start the Axver Party and run on a platform of "free money for all!" That'll win votes.

Yeah, it's kind of sad really. You guys should call it the cool season or something.

Well, your platform has to be somewhat realistic. . .

Yeah well war is inevitable, you can't prevent it. It's going to happen whether we like it or not till the end of time. And it's just gonna keep getting worse. I know I'm so optimistic but I'm not going to sugar coat this, it's the truth and that's that. At least now I can vote now, and I'll have some say in who gets elected. Which is why I elcet Axver as the ruler of the whole world who will stop this insane world from killing each other. All hail Axver!!! lol.

" I cannot fathom why people are so unable or unwilling to live in peace."

Obviously, it's because they're simply not as advanced, intelligent, and enlightened as you.

'After all, their ultimate goal is to completely destroy Israel.'

I have to wonder how they plan to achieve that, given that Israel's a nuclear-equipped state with one hell of an armed forces.

And I just do not comprehend this refusal to even live in peace. I do not understand why someone is to be hated because they are Israeli. What really gets me is that people on both sides of the fighting trace their heritage and religion back to Abraham. Sometimes this just feels like a massively overblown case of sibling rivalry. "This is MY land, Dad said so!" "No, he said it's MINE!"

The translations seem quite clear to me. :) I suppose I'm just repeating myself, but I do not comprehend this desire to fight! Conflict is abhorrent to me. Maybe it's because I'm just a wimp. I just don't see why it is so undesirable to settle things peacefully, acknowledge the state of Israel, and live side-by-side in harmony. I could go on and on, but like I said, it will probably just be repetitive.

Haha, no kidding! But their frame of mind is so different. They can't even conceive of giving up the fight, regardless of their chances of actually winning -- it would be like a loss of dignity for them or something. It is ridiculous, though; Israel has shown time and again that it can defeat not only the Palestinians, but the other Arab states too. Of course, the Arab response to this would be to complain about the US support of Israel, and to say that without the US, Israel would be nowhere, blah blah blah.

The brainwashing that goes on over there is just scary. In the West, it's hard to even conceive of the scale of such indoctrination, but in the Middle East it's everywhere. And really, when everything they read, see, and hear tells them how evil Israel is, how can you expect them to not hate Israelis? They've never seen any other perspective. It's horrible, how the whole society teaches little children to hate Israel and idealize "martyrdom." Like these videos, including one where an 11 year old Palestinian girl says " ( ... )
