I do not understand how people listen to music through speakers. This evening, while Luke and I were cooking and eating our dinners, we used his iPod to play songs through my sound system's speakers, and despite the fact my speakers have some seriously good bass on them, I just didn't enjoy the music as much as when I wear headphones. Songs that ( Read more... )

Ahh...yes...I too agree that music is different when you listen to it through speakers. The sounds really are very different.

Haha, I'd totally listen to your metal band! I'd even be willing to help publicize, I could be a member of your street team! I'd post up posters all over the world and give out those silly buttons that you pin on your shirts and bags.

It's interesting to switch between playing systems - not just between headphones and speakers. I use headphones with both my computer and discman, and I notice different things when I use the two. I also have two sets of headphones and when I swap them on either piece of equipment, the dynamics of the sound are different again. My favoured sound is my discman's headphones on my computer, but my discman's headphones aren't that comfortable so I just stick with my computer ones.

I'm thinking the band's second single should be No-one Likes Politicians, Especially When They Tell The Truth, because if a politician is telling the truth, he's either under oath in a court because he's being prosecuted, or he's exposing the misdeeds of another politician. I could just create an entire album taking shots at things I don't like. Now if only I had a band and musical talent!

What you need is monitoring speakers. Not hifi ones. Behringer truth speakers are brilliant and not too expensive, but the clarity is just WOW!

Hm, not familiar with that type of speakers. Then again, I don't know much (re: anything) about speakers in particular. My headphones give me incredible sound at a low price, and I don't bother anyone by playing them a bit loud. I've been using headphones for about four years now and I really can't see myself going back to speakers now.

Introduced Luke to King Crimson yet?

Haircuts suck. I haven't had a haircut since July. I'm growing it.

You showed me that video earlier.

Took you long enough to make an LJ entry.

Not yet. I doubt he'd like them either.

Wow, your hair must be pretty long by now.

Yep.

And yep. I should try to return to my old schedule.

Depends on the quality of the equipment.

Cut your hair or you'll look silly like Majesty.

As I said, my speakers are pretty good quality, especially when it comes to the bass.

At least I'd stand out!

It's a lot cheaper to get very good headphones than a speaker system of similar quality.

Yeah, that's true. My headphones are fantastic and cost me $20. You certainly couldn't get some amazing sounding speakers for the same price!

I wonder how much you could spend on headphones. Speaker systems go up in price pretty much indefinitely.

You can spend a fortune. My grandpa has some Sennheisers that cost about 120 GBP and they're not the top. Biamped headphones are just WOW sounding though.
