first thing for today:

after you've loaded the selection you have to switch back to your layers pallette. then you can fill the selection with any color you like :)

first: make a new layer before you fill your selection! then it will fill all of the space (you can go to Edit - Fill... - Use: Foreground Color to make sure it really fills everything correctly)

second: the moving thing is just the indication for the selection, you can inverse the selection with ctrl+shift+i, then you can fill the rest of the layer :)

hey for the outlines how do you get to blending options? I have PS 7 and I don't see it :(

on your Layers palette...
right click on the layer, choose Blending Options.

Will the color halftone effect work in Photoshop Elements? I can't seem to find the channels palette...
