Damn, I can't believe I haven't updated my journal for almost a month! Wow!
So here's just a little update on what I'm doing right now :)

New Year ResolutionsI'm slowly starting a 100% vegan diet. Because y'know, it's better for the animals, better for the environment, better for the natural resources, and last but not least, better for me. My ( Read more... )

Being vegan AND gluten free is a bit of a challenge. I have a friend who is both and I've been trying to find a bread or muffin recipe for her, but nothing I try works because it seems like nothing I bake will rise unless it has eggs in it. I know there's a lot of other foods that vegan/gluten-free people can eat, but for me, bread is a biggie.

I got a PETA magazine in the mail today, which made me feel sad for the horrific conditions under which our food animals have to live until they are brutally killed. I think I could be vegetarian, but not vegan because I love eggs and cheese so much.

Let me know if you find any good (and easy) recipes!

Recently, I found a very good page with lots of vegan and gluten-free recipes: http://www.gluten-free-vegan-girl.com/
Most of the recipes are without sugar, too. And they are all very easy to make - just a few days ago, I tried out the "Guilt-free Vegan Nutella", which consists of nothing but dates, nuts, cocoa and silk-tofu. And it tastes just like normal chocolate spread!

When I wanted to go vegan, I also thought that I would miss eggs and cheese the most. But actually, I don't miss it at all xD Or at least I don't crave it so much that I want to give up. (Actually, the thing I miss most is fish, although I never thought that I was such a big fish-fan o.O ).

Oh and I just tried out some vegan cheese as well. It really tastes a little like cheese, especially melted. I had one "Edamer-style" and one with garlic and herbs. And I have to say, the second one tastes amazing! :)
