From this entry, it doesn't sound like everything has been the same!

I'm glad you got some relief from your ailments without having to go to the hospital. And I'm glad you got through the derecho all right! That sounds scary!

I've never seen baby raccoons. I was once house-sitting for someone who had one room with two-story windows, and they had screens all the way up, and one night I saw someone climbing the screens. It turned out to be a raccoon, not a human, but it was stretched out so far that I thought for a moment I was in a horror movie: there was some humanoid monster someone climbing around the second story on a screen window! And at any moment, it would surely fall in at me! To this day, I do not know how the screen didn't tear or break. I wish it had been just babies!

Happy birthday!

That's true. I just didn't think any of it was worth it's own post to talk about, I guess.

Me too! My mum told me afterwards that if her rubbing my back didn't work at that point, she was going to take me to the ER. The stones were under a lot of swelling and she couldn't feel them to hurry them along. The TENS made the area relax enough for them to come down. She said there were three pretty large ones all bundled together. The pain is definitely worse during my period. I think the same hormones that contract your uterus also work on the ureter, so I get a double whammy.

And I'm glad you got through the derecho all right! That sounds scary!I was having a nap through most of the derecho, believe it or not, and so was my mum. I sleep with earplugs in and she's a heavy sleeper. I only saw the tail end of it because Pax was in the kitchen and howling in terror and woke me up. We ( ... )

I slept through the one hurricane that came through our city in the last 20 years! I was sick and lying on the couch so I wouldn't keep Brilliant Husband awake with my sneezing and nose blowing, and I finally fell asleep shortly before it hit. I was a little disappointed, to be honest; it seems like I could have stayed up for that. I have seen tropical storms.

And then last night we got a not so bad storm, but it produced a huge surge that got past multiple surge protectors-in the case of the apparently now-fried Apple TV, two surge protectors in sequence for extra protection. I will post about it when I'm home; this happened the night before a short trip!

Raccoons can get very big, and they can seem frightening in the dark!
