I never noticed it until now, but Zuko's preference to draw upon pre-existing fire for his bending feels very much like a nod to the live-action movie (although I know it isn't, as AB predates the movie).

Yeah, M Night sucked that one right out of my head. ;D Honestly though, if I could go back and reedit anything it would be that Zuko can't generate fire of his own, thus making him more like a waterbender but... I'll work within the bounds I already set up.

A question about Iroh: he's the heir to the throne in this AU, but who is Iroh's heir with Lu Ten dead? Is it Ozai, Azula, or has he not designated one?

When Azulon dies, Iroh is set up to be his heir. Iroh himself doesn't have a heir... yet.
