( Kaka isn’t quite sure if recent developments portend good or ill. What to make of it? This sudden fire of the blood just as he is approaching thirty, and after a few seasons of not playing too well at all, and worse still, married with a child! Because, ah, it is not his wife (bless her immeasurably kind soul, her wide eyes and dear face-oh!-he is unworthy) whom he feels such ... passion for. If only, if only it were her (still she remains ever a divinity to him, he has filled five and a half notebooks with poor shadows of his feelings for her), or if-God forbid-he were yet a free man. Then new love, vita nuova, as Dante wrote, might be the beginning of a renaissance for him. ) -

This article about Rudolf Hess and his 'inhumane' imprisonment leaves me really conflicted. Is it so easy to forget wrong-doing? And how on earth would it have been possible to punish his crime enough?
