this is worse treatment than the cultural revolution would have done. What a shame such desecration and disregard for the value of this heritage in this day and age... terrible fate for this site... really lamentable. What a waste.

Agreed. My expectations were low, but I was hoping that a little bit of taste and caution would be used in the renovations. I'd love a museum of old Russian diaspora there instead!
