Ulterior motives

Takki sinks into the seat, quiet and motionless, like a schoolboy on the first day of school. No, he isn't chilling in his private room, exhausted yet exhilarated, after yet another round of a glitzy Johnny's concert. In fact, he wonders if he would ever get to do one again.

The van keeps speeding on, occasionally turning the corner, and occasionally stopping. But its urgency is evident. Why's it speeding? Where's it going? Takki doesn't know. He doesn't even know where he is. The blindfolds made sure of that. The only thing he knows is that he has been kidnapped.

............

Often, Takki had tried not to think too hard about his future or plan too much. He would appreciate his everyday and be contented with it. However, the triple disasters that shook Japan recently made him realise that life could be so short, when there's still so much to do. In the wake of the tragedy, he crammed his time with family bonding and checking on the well-being of his friends and kouhais. Still, those were merely pittance. There're still places he yearns to see, life's milestones he longs to experience and things he's burning to say. With so much left undone, he simply can't afford any personal disaster.

...........

'Can I have something to eat? Please. I'm hungry.'

Takki hears his companion in the vehicle move closer to him. He has been aware of that presence shortly after he awoke from the drug. This captor was perhaps the one who had cable-tied his hands and legs and bound him to the seat. Ironically, it was also this person, who through a voice encoder, assured him that if he remained quiet and cooperated, he wouldn't be harmed.

'Maybe you've got the wrong person. I'm Takizawa Hideaki. I'm not rich and neither is my family.'

Despite his heartbreaking confession, there is only silence.

'What could they possibly want from him?'

............

After about an hour or two or three, Takki isn't sure, he has already lost track of time and is slowly losing his sanity, the ride starts to slow. He shudders to think of what dark and sinister fate might await him.

Still blindfolded and hands tied behind his back, Takki is promptly wrapped in a warm fleece blanket before he is led down a grassy slope. The air outside feels a little chilly but the soft grass under his feet comforts him. Maybe, with any luck, he might even get to spend captivity hearing birds sing.

............

He had imagined having unspeakable things done to him. He had imagined losing his mind waiting for rescue. He had imagined dying alone in the wild. But never, in his wildest imagination, did he ever imagine this - sunrise on Easter Island.

'Happy birthday, Takki!'

............

Maybe it's the piercing lights to his eyes or he's temporary possessed, but Takki doesn't instantly pounce on his 'kidnapper' and pro-wrestle the living daylights out of him.

'I'm sorry but I wanted it to be a surprise. I want it to be a birthday you'll never forget.'

'You mean a nightmare I'll never forget?!'

'The nightmare's all mine. You don't know all the sexual favours I've promised just to fly out of Tokyo.'

'Really?! Takki exclaims. There're things he minds sharing.

Tsubasa smiles slyly.

'I really hate you sometimes.'

.............

The mystery of the Stone Heads on Easter Island has always fascinated Takki. It was one of the places he had dreamt of visiting but wondered if he ever really would. Even now, with the ancient monuments in plain sight, it all still seems so surreal. He doesn’t belong here. He’s but a fleeting moment, nothing compared to the timelessness that surrounds him. Again, he’s painfully reminded of the fragility and brevity of his life. If there's anything left unsaid or undone between him and his loved ones, the time is now.

Bracing himself, he turns to the close friend, whom he has difficulty opening up to.

'Tsubasa…. I…. I was wondering “What’s that?”’

'Natou seafood paella (fermented beans and seafood in saffron rice).'

'And this?'

'Kimchi kani tortilla (pickled cabbage and crab meat wrap).'

Takki gives up asking about the other dishes in the Spanish fusion picnic feast that Tsubasa has painstaking laboured for him. Maybe a dark and sinister fate awaits him after all - of the gastronomical kind.

'So this is a day trip?' Takki asks, putting his diversionary tactic to work. 'I still need to help clear the mess in my brother's store.'

Tsubasa pouts. He didn't go through hell just for a day trip. He has expectations.

'But there're still plenty of heads to explore. And speaking of heads, we could make some too.'

Tsubasa massages the lump in Takki's track pants.

'I guess a couple of days away won't hurt.'

He pulls off the pants.

'Maybe a few days?'

Then rips off the boxer brief.

'A week?'

Finally, Tsubasa strokes the long, stiff and pre-cumming Takki-brand chorizo (spicy sausage).

'As long as you want….'

Takki might not be very honest with his feelings. Thankfully, his body is.

And Tsubasa smiles to himself, birthdays with Takki are always so much fun!

End
