"always the tone of surprise."

Last night? Kind of sucked. I got home from NOCCA at 7:30, ate dinner, and went down for a nap before Harry Potter, only to wake up a couple hours later sick to my stomach. I almost went anyway but figured that I wouldn't enjoy the movie if I spent the entire time trying not to throw up, and it would kind of ruin it for the people sitting around me ( Read more... )

Great review of the movie! I totaly agree with you, particularly about HBC! Though hearing Hermione's screams was very scary! I must admit that the character whose the most out of place for me is Tonks! I always imagined her as a really cool looking punk chick and just think she looks kinda frumpy!

It's been so long since I'd read the book (Twice the week it came out I think) that I (thankfully) couldn't remember very much. I remember that Dombey's death and burial made me cry! But all I could think about watching the movie was how I'd have to read it again!

The torture scene was intense, but not nearly as intense as it could have been. Still not sure if that's a good thing or not - I would have loved Ron offering himself instead of Hermione and screaming bloody murder, but at the same time, I'm not sure how I would have handled it!

I liked Tonks okay in the fifth movie but I agree, they haven't done a great job with her. They've cut so much of her storyline, though, that it's hard to fault her beyond her looks!

Definitely worth reading again! Part of me wishes that I didn't know it so well, because whenever one of the movies comes out I have a hard time looking past the changes from the book, but it's worth it :)

Yeah, I guess as it's still a "kids" movie they probably shouldn't have made it any worse!

I know it is such a shame how much they've cut from her! I thought it was funny that she said "i've got something to tell you" but didn't say what it was! I'm also sad they cut the scene where Remus wanted to run away with the kids.

I just got to the ending of the movie re-reading. And now I'm going I can't believe they cut that!!! To SO many parts. I think the thing that makes me saddest was cutting Kreacher's transformation. I loved that part so much!!!

I was definitely that way with the earlier books as I've read them many more times (As I'd always re-read everything before the next book was released). This is definitely the book I remember least of them, but I'm really enjoying re-reading it. Of course I got to the part where they buried Dobey on the tube this morning and couldn't help cry even though I was surrounded by commuters!

I knew your review would be awesome. Makes me wonder what the hell I should post for mine, lol!

I do agree with you on most of what you said except perhaps Voldemort - I think Ralph does a fine enough job and scares the ever living crap out of me.

HBC, however... I liked her in OotP... but here she was a bit too cartoonish for me throughout the majority of her scenes. I think the only exception was possibly when she was torturing Hermione, but that could have been more because the situation was scary and I had been dreading how far they were going to take it on screen. But, yes, she should have been more "insane scary" rather than how she was mostly portrayed.

LOL. It's possible I think too much about this stuff.

I think I'm in the minority on the Voldemort thing, although I'm surprised at how many people have agreed about HBC - I thought I'd be completely alone there. I was thinking about it, actually, and realized that most of the casting issues I have are from the later movies - by the time characters like Remus, Sirius, Voldemort and Bellatrix came on the scene I had such a firm idea of what the character should look like that it wasn't/isn't easy for me to accept the movie version!

Love your icon! ♥

I get where you are coming from about having a firm idea of what you think the characters would look like after reading the books. I'm not sure I ever had that luxury since I got into HP a little later than most (think it was 2001 when Sorcerer's Stone came out as a film that I had my first brush). I enjoyed the movie and picked up the books, but I'm nowhere near as huge a fan as you are! :)
