Darcy/Steve, Proposal 5 +1 anonymous May 25 2012, 07:21:45 UTC
Five times Steve tried to propose to Darcy but got interrupted before he could get his point across, and one time he interrupted the rest of the Avengers in order to finally do it.

"It should just be for twenty-four hours, to be safe," Tony said once they'd sealed the container shut. "Can't have the national treasure unknowingly carrying the next Ebola, now can we ( ... )

this is a really excellent start! Poor Steve...and I love this line: Clint came by for a few minutes to apologize for "making the space lizard explode." because I can just see the whole scene in my head.

can't wait for more!

Because it needs a title.

---------

A near death experience does something to one's psyche. Once he was cleared to go home, and Darcy announced that she was on her way right now, Steve felt that he had to ask her the moment she opened the door because, well, he almost got his head cut off by renegade Doombots, and that's another one of those things that made him realize exactly how short life could be.

But then the door flung open and Darcy all but jumped on him, kissing him and repeating, Oh my God, oh my God over and over and throwing in the occasional Don't ever do that to me again as she started working on getting off his uniform.

Normally, Steve would have at least tried to get her into the bedroom. But, again, he'd nearly been decapitated and was extremely glad that he hadn't, because his girlfriend had just ripped off his gloves with her teeth, and well-after that, anything remotely resembling normal behavior was thrown out the window ( ... )

"This," Darcy said as she curled up next to Steve, "is the best. It's like being at a drive-in. There was one about fifteen minutes away from my high school, but the screen burned down and they didn't want to spend the money to rebuild it. Never got to go to it."

They were in Tony's workshop in his house in Malibu, sitting in one of Tony's prized cars, with WALL-E on. Darcy loves the movie, and was distraught when she learned that of all the movies that Steve had watched since waking up, he hadn't seen WALL-E. "So they showed you the rest of the Pixar canon and left off one of the best ones?" she asked. "Oh no. We're fixing this ( ... )

"Please tell me that you aren't up here being mopey about your birthday again."

"What would make you think that?"

"I read your diary." Darcy was having a hard time keeping a straight face. "It was too easy to pop open the lock. A bobby pin can ruin those things."

Steve laughed. "Remind me to get something I can password protect next time." He leaned back in the deck chair and stared up at the sky. No matter where (or when, he thought ruefully) he was, seeing the sky filled with stars always left him slightly awestruck. That feeling of awe was slightly dulled, though, simply with the knowledge of the date. He had watched as the clock had blinked over from 11:59 to 12:00, and after that he had come up to the roof of Jane's lab to look at the stars-and yes, mope a little.

Darcy tapped his shoulder. "God, you're being worse than my mom when she turned forty. You are so moping ( ... )

eeeee this is basically adorable! I'm loving it so much and I can't wait to read the rest of it!

Just a tip, though: when it says the round "closes" at 5000 comments, what it means is that you're not allowed to post prompts anymore. You can continue to post fills (and reviews) until the thread freezes at, I think, 10000.
