Any or gen, broken Avengers action figures still have a home anonymous December 25 2012, 20:39:21 UTC
When any toy is made, there are always some defective ones. Usually they're thrown away, destroyed, sold at high discount- something.

Not so with Avengers toys. A stipulation in the contract says that any toys that can't be sold have to be shipped to Stark Tower.

Because one (or more) of the Avengers knows enough what it's like to be broken and unwanted, and doesn't want any of his or her friends- or even plastic replicas of them- to feel that way too.

Bonus points if the story's from the POV of one of the broken toys.

(This prompt brought to you by one too many viewings of Rudolph and feeling for the plight of the Island of Misfit Toys)

I already thought this prompt was adorable, but now I'm picturing Dummy being the one to insist on keeping the unsaleable toys and maintaining them on a little shelf with his one arm, picking them up when they fall over with all the patience of the damned, and I am dead of feels.

Dummy knows that no matter how much Tony threatens, he'll never get rid of him, and Dummy can do for the action figures what Tony does for him.

No don't fall Action Figure Steve, it's okay, Dummy has you.

I'm dead, you've killed me, I am typing this from the afterlife.

You win a gold star for packing an unbelievable amount of feels into a very small space.

And now I am DED.

Stupid Robo-feels.

I may add references to this in my next fic w/ Dummy (or DUM-E depending on which way I swing at the time), though it prolly won't actually be a fill. Would that be okay?

I think...I'm starting to have too many Dummy feels. It's getting kind of awkward actually. It should not be possible to love an arm on wheels this much.

[Fill] Little And Broken, But Still Good (1/2) anonymous January 13 2013, 06:47:47 UTC
Action Figure Steve came off the line broken.

He'd been moving along happily, coming out of the mold just fine and then got his coloring sprayed on before being dried and set with a blast of hot air. He was perfect, just like every other Action Figures in the line ahead of him and all the ones that would come after him. Standing at attention, shield in hand, he was strong and tall, an imposing figure that would make the real Captain America proud. But then disaster struck. Just as he was turning the corner, about to be sent down the line to packaging when the conveyor belt stuttered and instead of moving gently he slammed into corner, tipping over and his wonderful shield cracked in two ( ... )

It was dark in the sack and very lonely and Action Figure Steve waited and waited and waited in there, worrying over what it meant to be taken to the tower. He had never heard of the tower before and didn't know what it was. Was it a really large dumpster? Some sort of crushing machine? He supposed it didn't matter; whatever it was, it did not sound good ( ... )

OH GOD. This is so cute, so utterly adorable. I wish I had my own Cap doll action figure I could hug the crap out of right about now. <3

OP here.

OH MY GOD, anon. I started reading this and before I was halfway done with the first part I was crying, and kept going through the end.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. THANK YOU.

I'm going to go reread it and sob some more now.

(Also Captcha asking me to prove I'm a human seems awfully cruel now. MAYBE I'M AN ACTION FIGURE. WHAT THEN, CAPTCHA? WHAT THEN?)

Excuse me, I just need to grab some kleenex *dries her eyes* this was incredibly sweet! It sounds very like them too. I can totally see tony "going along" with it to Make Steve happy, even though deep down inside, he's just as happy to give a home to his not quite so living friends!

Hi nonnie,

Your subject line is incorrect as it's missing the pairing (just because it's a background pairing doesn't mean you don't have to put it in the subject line). The original subject line for the prompt was "Any or gen, broken Avengers action figures still have a home". By the meme rules, your subject line should be

[FILL] Little And Broken, But Still Good, background Steve/Tony, broken Avengers action figures still have a home

Please repost your fill with the correct subject line, thank you!
