They both have trouble sleeping and sometimes they're up at night. One night they're both up, cross paths in the living room. They don't talk much and just sit on the couch in silence until they doze off, and it is a far more peaceful sleep than they've had in a while.

So they make a habit of sleeping in the same bed every night from then on. They cuddle a little, but they never have sex. The team reacts.

Bonus: though it starts out platonic, it doesn't stay that way

Okay, fellow nonnies, this is my first attempt at writing The Avengers, so please be gentle. This was written as gen, but could easily be read through Steve/Natasha goggles.

Five times Natasha and Steve accidentally sleep together (and one time they do on purpose)

1Steve hears footsteps on the cold, kitchen tiles, too soft to be Tony or Clint, definitely not Thor. It might be Bruce - the man could be damn near silent when he wanted to be

She's there before him, this time, and he hands her a cup of tea, switching on one of Clint's shows. She lifts the edge of the blanket across her legs without looking away from the television, and Steve settles down on the couch, his thigh pressed against hers.

"Friends!" Thor's booming voice shocks him, and Natasha's head whips around. Thor throws himself onto the cushions on her opposite side, shifting the entire couch backwards along the floor with his momentum.

"Why did no one tell me there was a slumber party?" Thor pouts in a way that only Thor could get away with without looking ridiculous. Still, Steve finds himself annoyed that their quiet little bubble has been burst.

Until Natasha laughs. Thor lays his head in her lap, and she rolls her eyes at Steve, carding her fingers through Thor's hair.

5Steve clenches his hands into fists as he walks through the halls, physically forcing them to stop shaking
