Polaris Game Chronicles

Aug 22, 2006 18:38

For those who don't have gamechronicles set to their friends pages, or have no clue what it is, but would be interested to see what's going on with the Polaris games I've been mentioning offhand in conversation, go and see.
Query: should I GC the sessions of the game that my friends and I are playing here at home?

i'd definitely like to see a writeup of the game you're playing with your friends. whether it should go on gamechronicles or not isn't so clear to me.

I can't think of any good reason it shouldn't go on GC. The point of GC, at least in my mind, is to chronicle games; there's no restriction those games have to be Stanford ones. I, for instance, have posted 2 sessions of a D&D campaign I run from home ( here and here), as well as a run of Garden Station 4 ( here, contains spoilers for GS4). If you are interested in posting, I say go ahead.

the reason i have reservations about using gc for things beyond stanford is that there is a limit to the number of campaigns that can be chronicled on a weekly basis before the flow of individual games gets lost in the interleaved mess. who wants to go back a hundred entries to remind yourself what happened last week? and that wouldn't be inconceivable if all the gamers on lj used gc.

it seems to me that we should have some guidelines then for what should or shouldn't go on gc, if only so people in adam's position wouldn't have to wonder whether to post or not. i'd be fine with saying that any sgs people - loosely defined - could post on any game they're involved with, but not random lj people. but maybe others don't want to read about games where they don't know the players and would like a stricter standard. i don't know.

Um, sure, that's true.

I guess I made the assumption, which I didn't state, that all such games would include someone at least somewhat connected to Stanford/SGS.
