Garden Station 4

Spoiler Note: This LARP is one of J + GD's parlor larps. If you expect to take part in it in the future, I recommend not reading the following:

Game: Garden Station 4 (Templeton, MA)
GM: Matt (ra1330)
Players/Characters:
Scott/Sandy Applebaum (scottious): The Explorer (GDC)
Dan/Boris2 Red3 Stanville (flashkit_42): The Cerian Researcher (GLS)
Tyler/Jansor Tantorian: The UP Reporter (GLC)
Josh/Yassy Fels: The UP Computer Specialist (EDC)
     Amy/Pat1 Green4 Rockton(selene_314): The Cerian Technician (GDS)
Emily/Nicra Mitterson(lywen): The UP Research Team Leader (ELS)

So things started with the two teams beaming to Garden station, as always. Initial action was slow: Fels didn't want to reveal he had his battery, and no one else had the ability to reactivate the Garden Station computers. Eventually, after other failed attempts at activating the computers by other ways, Fels discretely placed his battery in, and the comptuers activated. As Fels did that, the others were examining the (asleep) medical robot and the viewscreen, but couldn't find much of interest.

While the progress bar rolled, people got concerned about this climbing bar. However, once it reached the top and nothing bad happened, people calmed down. At the terminals were Pat1 (Communications), Yassy (Engineering), Sandy (Weapons), Jansor (Security) and Nicra (Life Support). The UP locked down their three computers and allied with Sandy, locking his down as well, while Pat1 communicated with Ogi Station and the incoming ship.

Debate then began about the weapon. Sandy wanted to keep autofire on, to make sure Garden was protected, while Yassy wanted it off so they could be rescued. They kept turning it off and on, alternating back and forth. While they were doing that, Nicra + Pat1 were querying the comptuer about the station, and Jansor went and, having made sure his own side had eaten food already, placed poison in the food. When the Cerians broke the lock and found out about this, they were obviously upset about it; however, Jansor convinced Boris2 that Sandy had planted the food (as Jansor was already doubting Sandy's story). Needless to say, at this point in time most people started to be concerned about Sandy's motives, either of their own accord or because of Jansor.

Jansor was the first to take action against Sandy. When he had access to the the weapon control station, he lied to Sandy and convinced him that there was a ship incoming. Sandy reacted to that honestly, and Jansor riducled him for doing so. Having had so little human contact recently, Sandy had no idea how to react to that; he was severly emotionally damaged by Jansor, to the point of almost being knocked out.

The people then began communicating with Garden. While they got a little info, very quickly Garden became suspicious of the existance of intelligent life about GS4. They set a preliminary deadline for determination of its existance; if they couldn't be convinced in about 45 minutes of the non-existance of intelligent life, they would order GS4 to self-destruct.

At about that time, news started to come in of the explosions in UP and Cerian space. This actually caused very little stir; one ideologue was already well on his way to causing war; both were glad war had started, and the full power of the weapon had not yet been realized (GM Note: It was never really realized).

Just less than 1 hour before the ship arrived, the people finally confirmed to Garden that there were intelligent lifeforms about GS4. With that, Garden activated the final, terminal self-destruct. The people debated what to do then. The discussion eventually turned to blowing up other stations or Garden, in retribution for ordering the self-destruct. Sandy attempted to stand up to the others but, as he was still reeling from Jansor's ridicule, he was easily taken down. With the end of any protection for Garden, it merely became a question of what to do. They all, except Pat1, eventually decided that threating Garden was a bad idea, as it could only evoke a dangerous response from Garden.

They tried many ways to convince Garden that the intelligence had left GS4, including bouncing and routing messages through other stations, even trying to convince Garden that there were dangerous explosives on GS4 that, if destroyed, would damage Garden. Garden refused all communication regarding Garden Station 4 after a short time, and they could no longer communicate with the planet. During this time, Jansor also ridiculed Boris down a few health levels as well, to weaken the Cerians.

After a half hour, Jansor, who was at communications (sending out his news), got alerted the ship had entered nearby. Discovering it was a Cerian ship, he and the other UP members were obviously concerned. As they confered in the bathroom for a while, Fels came up with a daring plan; if they could add Ink to the food, and feed it to both Cerians, the Cerians would be more willing to follow orders, and hopefully they could all escape. While they discussed this, Pat moved to threaten the planet, but a warning by Jansor that he'd shoot her caused her to back down (GM Note: this was a good thing, as any threat to Garden would've resulted in the immediate destruction of GS4, in my book). As the situtation rapidly spiraled out of control, the UP finally agreed to Fels' Ink plan. The problem came with getting Pat and Boris to eat. Pat eventually did, when her desire for Ink won out (even though it didn't affect her as Fels wanted); and when Boris refused to eat it, he was stunned. When the Cerians arrived, they were surprised to be answered by Nicra. After being told about the Cerian survivors, however, they agreed to beam them all aboard. Beaming off just as GS4 exploded, the people met by an armed group of Cerian guards, and we had game end.
