I'm going to keep trying. I think the story just wants to be lengthy. I mean, it's already long enough, but the ending I had planned doesn't feel finished enough, so I'm kind of at wits end here. *tugs at hair*

YAY! That's great news. Long fic is great. But man, I feel you at seeing a story stretch ahead with no end in sight.
