When alcohol attacks

I was opening a bottle of wine for dinner tonight and the thing exploded in my hands.  I've never seen anything like it.  I was twisting the cork, trying to get it out and suddenly the bottle just shattered, glass everywhere, and wine...oh the waste...a whole bottle of wine on the floor.  I've spent the last hour mopping, trying to wipe up the ( Read more... )

Be careful - you (or the kids) will be finding small shards of glass for weeks to come.

It is a waste; but it was obviously an inferior bottle, so the wine was probably not worth it anyway. Keep telling yourself that :).

How is Texas? Have the boys started thier long Summer holiday yet? Must be warming up for Summer. It has been freezing here the last few days - tops around 10C. It even snowed in Marysville (just out of Melbourne) today. The snow bunnies are happy, because there was actually snow for the opening weekend on Queens Birthday long weekend.

I was on my hands and knees looking for all the glass and it's the slivers that are the tricky pieces, they're really hard to see.

Texas is HOT! Man, it's been over 30 degrees every day for weeks now. On the upside I've never had such a great tan.

I don't like the sound of your 10 degree days, I don't function well in the cold.

I know! What is with that?

And the worst part is I've developed a sudden phobia of opening wine bottles. That better not last.

Hee. Do they not have the screw top lids in the States? I generally go for the wines with those, because I suck at opening the corked wines.

They haven't caught on to screw tops over here, they're a little slow on the uptake. But that would solve my bottle phobia problem (I held my breath and opened another bottle last night and all went well).
