Rory pouted.
With a red scribble on one cheek, and a red A+ on the other.
She sat on her bed with Vladdie in her lap, reading Pride and Prejudice and smiling occasionally at the notes she had made in the margins.
And then occasionally adding new ones. In blue. Because today, red? Kind of annoying.
[And now not so safe for work, oops.]

"John turned into an alien or something and a crayon wrote on me," she said woefully.

"That. I don't know what that is. And the crayon tried to give me a B+, but I renegotiated," she said a bit smugly.

"And really, it's easier if you're not prophesized about." He blew out a breath. "Not quite so many beings staring at you all the time."

"Sure," she continued, slipping into geek mode, "they all have six lines of symmetry because ordinary ice has a hexagonal crystal structure. And it's possible that a pair of snowflakes could be visually identical if their environments were similar enough, but they'd still be molecularly different."
She blushed. "So what I meant was that people are all unique, and so am I, but not in any exciting way. And yeah...I would imagine that the pressure on you is kind of daunting." She offered a wry quirk of her mouth. "I know what having people with scary expectations is like."

"I was thinking more like, um, minutes, maybe."

Then he put his hands around her waist, bent close to Rory's ear and explained.

"Don't you have to, um, concentrate?" she asked, remembering the glitter on Valentine's Day.
