Rory stormed out of the common room with Vladdie in one arm and a fluffy blue comforter in her other, Anakin on her heels.

She unlocked her door, motioned him in, set the puppy and the blanket down, and shut the door again.

"Yes, I am."

"Yes, I am, and you can't tell me what to do," Rory said hotly.

Anakin ran his hands through his hair in frustration. "I'm not trying to tell you what to do."

He blew out a breath. "Screw it. Yes I am. I can't focus on what I'll need to be doing and worry about keeping you safe at the same time. There is no reason for you to be there."

"Okay, first of all, who said it's your responsibility to keep me safe? I'm not coming to be babysat," Rory scowled. "And you don't think I have a reason to be there? I have every reason to be there."

Anakin's face fell. "You didn't really mean it." He gave a hollow laugh. "I understand. I know I've said thing that I didn't mean before."

"I didn't say that. I said I didn't mean to say it," Rory corrected gently, glancing up before resuming her study of her shoes.

Rory nodded very, very seriously.

Then swiftly pulled Anakin's face down to hers again to kiss him.

Because sometimes she likes a sneaky approach too.
